During the Anti-Japanese War, Sihong County was the central area of the Huaibei Anti-Japanese Democratic Base, the seat of the leading organs of the Party, government and army in the Huaibei Soviet-Anhui Border Region. The Huaibei Administrative Office and the headquarters of the Fourth Division of the New Fourth Army were both stationed here. Older proletarian revolutionaries such as Liu Shaoqi, Chen Yi, Deng Zihui, Liu Ruilong, Zhang Aiping and Zhang Zhen fought in Sihong, and more than 3,000 martyrs headed by Peng Xuefeng wrote the most magnificent patriotic chapter with their youth and blood, leaving the most precious spiritual wealth for the Chinese people.

'Decisive Battle of Hongze Lake' is based on the 33-day counter-mopping-up operation at Hongze Lake carried out by the Fourth Division of the New Fourth Army led by Division Commander Peng Xuefeng during the Anti-Japanese War, showing the touching historical fact that the army and people of the Hongze Lake area fought bravely and jointly resisted the Japanese invaders.

'For every porridge and every meal, think of how hard they came to get; for every thread and every strand, always remember the hardship of resources.' All Party members learned while watching and pondered while watching.
